MINSK, 12 April (BelTA) – Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko had a telephone conversation with Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian leader.

On behalf of the Belarusian people, his family and himself the head of state congratulated the Azerbaijani leader on a convincing presidential election victory and wished him every success in work at this responsible government post. Alexander Lukashenko stressed that the voters’ support proves that the political course to build a strong and prosperous state is a success.

The presidents of Belarus and Azerbaijan discussed the agenda of bilateral relations, the current state and prospects of the trade and economic cooperation, contacts on the international arena. They mentioned a high level of trust and understanding in Belarus-Azerbaijan relations. The countries’ trade cooperation has been increasingly vibrant in recent time, and the heads of state pointed out the importance of joint efforts in this area.

Ilham Aliyev also invited Alexander Lukashenko to visit Azerbaijan at any convenient time.
