Lukashenko against window dressing, artificial approach to ideological work

MINSK, 6 February (BelTA) – There should be no window dressing and artificial approach in ideological work in the country, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said at the session held on 6 February to discuss the optimization in the Belarus President Administration, BelTA has learned.

“It is necessary to continue working to improve the national ideology. It is one of key preconditions for stability in the society and the basis for continuous development. It is important to make sure that there is no window dressing and artificial approach. We need no formalities and unnecessary measures,” the head of state said.

The Belarusian leader pointed out that there is a need to establish a system of ideological work in the country. “We made an attempt to do this some time ago drawing on the practices developed in the times of the Soviet Union, but that effort ended up with formalism and excessive red tape,” Alexander Lukashenko stressed.

He noted that ideology specialists should have a vast knowledge and special personal traits. “These are naturally gifted persons who have a special kind of charisma and can covey an idea to the people, influence their values and beliefs. They should be good managers. People need to be able to trust the person addressing them,” the head of state said.

Alexander Lukashenko added that the ideological work should be guided by the ‘better less but better’ principle. “There should be no formalistic approach,” he emphasized.
