Kobyakov, Medvedev discuss Belarus-Russia cooperation in Minsk

MINSK, 27 October (BelTA) – Belarus’ Prime Minister Andrei Kobyakov and Chairman of the Russian Government Dmitry Medvedev held a meeting in Minsk on 27 October, BelTA has learned.

The two countries accumulated a number of pressing issues that should be discussed, Belarusian Prime Minister Andrei Kobyakov said at the beginning of the talks. He stressed that the two countries traditionally enjoy mutually beneficial trade and economic cooperation. However, there are some things that need to be solved.

For his, Dmitry Medvedev suggested considering the current status of relations between Belarus and Russia, the economic challenges facing the countries, problems and prospects of bilateral cooperation. He also noted the need to develop roadmaps for the cooperation between the two countries taking into account the current social and economic situation in Belarus and Russia.

“I am sure that we can find a way out of the most different situations which we face. My colleagues and I stand ready to discuss topical issues,” he said.

Andrei Kobyakov and Dmitry Medvedev took part in a meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council in Minsk on 27 October. The meeting considered 11 issues regarding the integration in the Eurasian Economic Union. Among them was the draft new customs code of the Eurasian Economic Union, the draft budget 2017, the international activities of the Eurasian Economic Commission, and certain aspects of trade policy, including the application of anti-dumping measures.
