Kobyakov calls for harmonized digital agenda in Union State

MOSCOW, 13 June (BelTA) – The Union State should have a coordinated digital agenda, Prime Minister of Belarus Andrei Kobyakov said at a session of the Union State Council of Ministers on 13 June, BelTA has learned.

Andrei Kobyakov believes that the development and implementation of a digital agenda within the framework of the Union State should become a priority. The governments of Belarus and Russia pay much attention to the development of a digital economy as it is viewed as one of key factors of global competitiveness and national security of the two states.

“As you know, the digital agenda is also discussed at the Eurasian Economic Union. It is important for Belarus and Russia to align their actions while drafting and implementing the digital agenda in the Union State,” the Belarusian head of government said. At the same time, the collaboration within the framework of the Union State will not overlap, but complement the work carried out in the Eurasian Economic Union.

Belarusian government agencies are already working to include these issues, as well as cooperation in high technology and innovations in the agenda of the supreme bodies of the Union State.

Andrei Kobyakov suggested scaling up efforts to create the common science and technology space in the Union State. “It is important to secure the highest level of integration of capacities of sci-tech and innovative potentials of Belarus and Russia. This should be done both on the interstate and intersectoral levels,” the premier believes.
