MINSK, 28 October (BelTA) – The CIS states have yet a lot to do to make the Commonwealth of Independent States stronger. Prime Minister of Belarus Andrei Kobyakov made the statement during the restricted-attendance session of the CIS Heads of Government Council on 28 October, BelTA has learned.

The Belarusian head of government noted that the CIS states have to specify the jurisdiction of the CIS agencies, optimize and improve performance of power-wielding agencies, ensure frugal and effective usage of financial resources.

Andrei Kobyakov pointed out that participants of the current meeting of the CIS heads of government would discuss ways of implementing the decisions on the CIS’ future operation that the CIS heads of state made during the Bishkek summit.

“The heads of state gave us a clear signal where we should move to enhance our integration association,” said the Prime Minister. “Today we are going to take a look at the first documents meant to implement the decisions of the CIS Heads of State Council to adapt the CIS to modern reality.”

According to Andrei Kobyakov, every meeting in the format of the Commonwealth of Independent States confirms its intended use. “It is a platform for conducting multilateral negotiations and for making mutually beneficial decisions on all matters,” he stressed.

The Prime Minister said he was confident that the current session of the CIS Heads of Government Council in Minsk would be constructive while the decisions the session participants would make would contribute to further advancement of integration processes.

The head of government also added that the agenda of the session includes multiple items to take care of current affairs and future ones.
