MINSK, 15 December (BelTA) – Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi described his meeting with Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko as productive. He made the statement while speaking to journalists in Minsk on 15 December, BelTA has learned.
“I had a very productive meeting with President Aleksandr Lukashenko of Belarus. Bilateral cooperation between our countries is picking up steam. We have established highly constructive interaction in politics. The countries cooperate on all matters in the international arena and hold political consultations,” the minister said.
Regarding trade and economic cooperation, Abbas Araghchi noted that it is also developing productively and covers a wide range of areas. “Certainly, one could say it is still not progressing sufficiently. There has been solid groundwork laid in terms of investment and joint production. Iran has been purchasing fertilizers from Belarus. Today, important decisions have been made across all sectors without exception,” the Iranian foreign minister stated.
Abbas Araghchi also remarked that an agreement has been reached for Belarus’ transport and communications minister to visit Iran in the near future. During this visit, concrete agreements on cooperation in the transport and logistics sector are expected to be signed.
On the agenda for cooperation between the foreign ministries is the adoption of a joint program for 2026-2030.
The parties have also recently held another successful meeting of the intergovernmental commission. Belarus’ industry minister has visited Tehran. Abbas Araghchi noted that these events also resulted in solid, substantive agreements.
