International Court of Justice delegation invited to Belarus

MINSK, 17 March (BelTA) – During a meeting with Registrar of the International Court of Justice Philippe Couvreur in the Hague, Belarusian Justice Minister Oleg Slizhevsky invited a delegation of the court to visit Belarus, spokeswoman for the Belarusian Justice Ministry Olga Murashkovskaya told BelTA.

During the meeting the parties discussed the role of the International Court of Justice in the promotion of international stability, its contribution to the development of the international law and resolution of interstate conflicts in accordance with the international law. The international law being a civilized language of international communication, Oleg Slizhevsky highlighted the essential role that the International Court of Justice plays, especially given the current turbulent situation.

The parties also discussed the approaches to the functioning of international judicial bodies using the example of the Court of the Eurasian Economic Union and the International Court of Justice.

Other issues the agenda of the meeting included law teaching, in particular setting up internships or trainings in the International Court of Justice and UN Secretariat for Belarusian students.

Taking the agreements on the potential avenues of cooperation into account, Oleg Slizhevsky invited the delegation of the International Court of Justice to visit Belarus.
