MINSK, 12 December (BelTA) – The Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs hopes that the effectiveness of the UN country team in Minsk will be improved after the organization is reformed, the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs told BelTA.
Belarusian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Andrei Dapkiunas met with UN Resident Coordinator/UNDP Resident Representative in Belarus Joanna Kazana-Wisniowiecki on 12 December. Progress in the reformation of the United Nations Organization development system was discussed. The reform provides for redistributing managerial functions in UN country teams as from 1 January 2019. Functions of the UN resident coordinator should be separated from those of the UNDP resident representative.
Andrei Dapkiunas said he hopes the reform will make the work of the UN country team in Minsk more effective. In turn, it will have a positive effect on Belarus’ interaction with UN agencies in the areas of cooperation Belarus prioritizes.
