MINSK, 10 May (BelTA) – A memorandum of cooperation has been signed by the Healthcare Ministry of Belarus and the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare of Japan at the Belarus-Japan economic forum, BelTA learnt from the Belarusian Embassy in Japan.

The document was signed by the head of the Belarusian delegation, Healthcare Minister of Belarus Valery Malashko and his Japanese counterpart Katsunobu Kato. The memorandum is aimed to expand cooperation between Belarusian healthcare facilities and specialists and their Japanese partners.

During his visit to Japan, Valery Malashko also met with State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan Kazuyuki Nakane and head of the Japan-Belarus interparliamentary friendship group Hiromichi Watanabe.

During the investment part of the forum that was hosted by the Japanese External Trade Organization, over a hundred business people from Belarus and Japan exchanged their views about the state and prospects of expanding bilateral cooperation in the field of investments. They also invited Japanese companies to take part in the Great Stone project and the projects of the Japan-Belarus Industrial Zone in Mogilev Oblast.

“Promising cooperation areas in the investment field include pharmaceutics, production of component parts for electric cars, new-generation diagnostic equipment, music instruments and sound-amplifying systems,” the Embassy informed.

Among the highlights of the visit to Japan were meetings with members of the Belarus-Japan Friendship Society, Japanese Friends of Belarus and the Belarusians diaspora in Japan. The Belarusian community arranged a performance of the children’s dance group Elena Bare Kyoshitsu, the Primavera vocal group and singer Nikita Yamashita.

A separate booth was used for the photo exposition titled “Belarus-Japan Dialogue”. The exposition was prepared in cooperation with the BelTA News Agency.

Belarusian confectionery, meat and dairy products, birch juice and liquors were introduced to Japanese participants of the event.
