Government told to expedite reconciliation of Belarus-Russia deeper integration program

MINSK, 2 August (BelTA) – The government has been instructed by Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko to expedite the reconciliation of the program of action on stepping up integration with Russia, BelTA learned from Prime Minister of Belarus Sergei Rumas after the head of state met with top Cabinet officials on 2 August.

The advancement of relations with Russia was one of the items on the meeting’s agenda. According to the prime minister, Aleksandr Lukashenko spoke in more detail about the recent negotiations in St Petersburg with President of Russia Vladimir Putin and gave instructions to expedite work on reconciling terms of the updated action program.

Sergei Rumas said: “All the initial deadlines have to be met. The government will start right now working on all the matters to be addressed with regard to deeper integration with the Russian Federation.”

Sergei Rumas reminded that as far as the integration program is concerned, the sides have a number of matters to agree. Once the work is finished, the development of sectoral roadmaps will begin. The roadmaps are supposed to be presented before the heads of state in November.
