MINSK, 29 Minsk (BelTA) – German Minister of Foreign Affairs Frank-Walter Steinmeier has arrived in Belarus to take part in a ministerial meeting of the Normandy Four (Russia, Ukraine, Germany, France), BelTA has learned.
Work on the implementation of the agreements on the settlement of the situation in Ukraine has been slow, German Minister of Foreign Affairs Frank-Walter Steinmeier said when speaking at the Berlin Foreign Policy Forum ahead of the Minsk meeting. However, this work should be continued in spite of all the difficulties. “All these [various aspects of work on the Minsk accords] are difficult, but, in my experience, we have no other choice but to commit ourselves to address these issues,” Frank-Walter Steinmeier said.
He also noted that thanks to this arrangement the degree of escalation was reduced significantly and the situation was kept under control, according to TASS.
The Normandy Four ministerial meeting will take place in the President Hotel on 29 November. The proposal to hold the meeting in the Belarusian capital was announced last week. Mass media later confirmed the intention for the Normandy Four ministerial meeting in Minsk on 29 November.
