MINSK, 19 June (BelTA) – The first round of technical consultations between Belarus and the European Union on visa matters took place in a businesslike productive environment, BelTA learned from Dmitry Mironchik, Head of the Information Office, Press Secretary of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry, on 19 June.

The sides discussed various aspects and possible clauses of the draft agreements on facilitating visa procedures and readmission, their content and the expected volume of mutual commitments. Asked about visa-free travels for holders of diplomatic passports, the Press Secretary remarked that the option is a standard part of all the European Union’s agreements on simpler visa procedures with Eastern Partnership Initiative countries and Russia. Belarus has established visa-free travels for holders of diplomatic and service passports with Poland, Hungary, Slovakia, and Romania on a bilateral basis.
