Federal сhancellor of Austria to visit Belarus on 28-29 March

MINSK, 26 March (BelTA) – Federal Chancellor of the Republic of Austria Sebastian Kurz will be on a visit to Belarus on 28-29 March, Anatoly Glaz, Head of the Information and Digital Diplomacy Office, Press Secretary of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said answering a question of a BelTA journalist.

Sebastian Kurz is set to hold bilateral talks and to attend a ceremony in the Trostenets Memorial Complex to unveil a monument to Austrians killed by Nazis. The monument titled Array of Names will commemorate over 10,000 Austrian Jews exterminated in the Trostenets death camp during the Second World War.

Sebastian Kurz will meet with Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko. Apart from that, Prime Minister Sergei Rumas will hold talks with the Austrian Federal Chancellor and the business part of the Austrian delegation.

The program of the visit features a commemorative concert and a number of other events.

According to the Austrian Embassy in Belarus, the Austrian delegation will include about 40 people: representatives of Jewish communities, relatives of the Austrian Jews killed in Trostenets, and business people.

A number of related events will take place in Minsk in the coming days. For example, Sonderghetto movie will be screened on 27 March. Austrian delegates will take part in an international seminar that will be held on the platform of the Minsk Dialogue expert initiative on 28 March. A Belarusian - Austrian symposium of historians will be held at Belarusian State University on 29 March to discuss the findings of research on the Maly Trostenets death camp.
