European experts study Belarusian experience of using public private partnership to fight cybercrime

Photo from the Prosecutor General's websiteMINSK, 23 October (BelTA) – A meeting with a delegation of experts of the Council of Europe took place at the Office of the Prosecutor General of Belarus as part of the Cybercrime@EAP III project, BelTA has learned.

The purpose of the visit is to study the experience and practice of cooperation between the public sector and the private sector in fighting high-tech crimes and put together an updated version of the report on the state of affairs in this field in the Eastern Partnership countries.

The Council of Europe delegation was interested in how the prosecution service in Belarus authorizes search operations and other investigative procedures, how digital evidence is evaluated, how long mobile carriers and telecommunication service providers store information of value for investigators. The delegation was also interested in the availability of a specialized platform for exchanging opinions, discussing things, working out solutions to bolster public private partnership.

Representatives of the Office of Belarus’ Prosecutor General noted that the meeting would contribute to further advancement of cooperation with the Council of Europe in observing rights of citizens during procedural actions as part of high-tech crime investigations.
