Eurasian leaders’ summit set for Minsk in late 2027

MOSCOW, 18 August (BelTA) – A summit of Eurasian leaders is planned to be held in Minsk in late 2027, where the agreed text of the Eurasian Charter of Diversity and Multipolarity in the 21st Century will be presented, Belarusian Ambassador to Russia Yuri Seliverstov said at a roundtable discussion at the embassy dedicated to the future charter, BelTA has learned.
The parties intend to finalize the text of the charter by October 2027. “The agreed version of the charter is expected to be brought to a summit of Eurasian leaders, tentatively scheduled for October–December 2027 in Minsk,” Yuri Seliverstov said.
He said that in September 2026, on the margins of the high-level week of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly, a ministerial meeting is planned to officially launch the negotiation process on the Eurasian Charter. After the official launch, a series of negotiating rounds are expected to be organized. “We are working with an ambitious but realistic target, which is to finalize the text by October 2027,” the ambassador said.
“We are convinced that the charter represents a timely response to current challenges and threats to regional and global security. The development of the charter through an open, transparent, and inclusive process will provide all interested Eurasian states with the opportunity to participate in shaping the future of our continent. Belarus will make every effort to ensure that the charter does not become yet another paper declaration destined to gather dust in archives, but a real guide to action. This is a manifesto for a new multipolar world, capable of resetting security across the entire continent. Instead of external diktat and old dogmas, we need clear, workable rules based on equality and mutual respect. By putting our own Eurasian house in order, we are laying the foundation for stability, respectful dialogue, fair cooperation, and sustainable development for the entire planet,” Yuri Seliverstov said.
The initiative to develop the charter came from Belarus. The Russian president has supported the proposal.
