Eismont comments on release of US citizen by Belarus

MINSK, 13 February (BelTA) - The recent release of a US citizen by Belarus was not the only request of this kind from the new Washington administration, Press Secretary of Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko Natalya Eismont said in a commentary to the Russian news agency TASS.

According to her, Minsk continues to receive such requests from Washington.

"This is not the only request of the new US administration. Such requests have come and they are still coming. We prefer confidentiality in these matters. For more information, please contact the US Department of State and the White House," she said as she commented on the recent release of three prisoners, including a US citizen, by the Belarusian side.

Earlier, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt announced the release of a US individual from Belarus.
