BREST, 27 July (BelTA) - Eight new Belarusian micro-projects under Thematic Objective Heritage will receive grants as part of the cross-border cooperation program Poland - Belarus – Ukraine for 2014-2020, Marina Kivel, head of the program's office in Brest, told BelTA.

Following the third Call for Proposals, the Joint Monitoring Committee approved three projects from Brest Oblast, four from Grodno Oblast and one from Minsk Oblast. The total budget of the projects is €204,300.

In three cases, Belarusian applicants are the leading beneficiaries. Thus, the project of the department of ideological work, culture and youth affairs of the Malorita District Executive Committee will receive funding for the project “Vector into the past. Traditional culture as a driver of tourism growth”. A green-light was given to the project of the department of ideological work, culture and youth affairs of the Pruzhany District Executive Committee “Culture of the region of Belovezhskaya Pushcha – through the heritage to cross-border cooperation”. The Grodno regional branch of the public association “Republican Tourism and Sport Union” initiated the project “Tyzenhaus’s tunes – creating musical and spectacular traditions to promote the common historical and cultural heritage of Grodno and Sokolka.”

The Clinical Maternity Hospital of Minsk Oblast is a partner in the project “Promoting the local history of medicine in Siedlce and Minsk”. The Oshmiany District Executive Committee will contribute to the implementation of the project. The Yanka Kupala Grodno State University will participate in the project “Protecting the natural heritage of the cross-border rivers of Marycha and Czarna Hancza” while the culture department of the Novogrudok District Executive Committee and the local cultural and educational fund “Szczorsy and Chreptowicz” will contribute to the project: “Two cultures in one pot”

The third Call for Proposals was launched as the funds provided for the second call of micro-projects were not used in full. Some 178 applications participated in the call. The Joint Monitoring Committee has decided to co-finance 26 projects (22 have been selected by the priority “Promotion of local culture and history” and four – "Promotion and preservation of natural heritage"). A reserve list of 11 promising projects has also been approved. The winning bids represent 12 regions. The total amount to be allocated as co-financing is €1.4 million. Contracts with beneficiaries are to be signed within six months.
