MINSK, 2 April (BelTA) – The official visit of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi to Belarus is scheduled for June, Chairman of the House of Representatives of Belarus Vladimir Andreichenko said at the opening of the spring session of the House of Representatives on 2 April, BelTA has learned.

The Egyptian president is expected to deliver a speech in the Belarusian parliament. “This will be the first speech of a foreign head of state in the Oval Hall,” Vladimir Andreichenko informed.

He noted that Belarusian MPs are cultivating good relations with various countries from around the world. “To this end, we hold many consultations within the framework of interparliamentary organizations and at the level of groups of friendship. We also maintain contacts with representatives of influential international organizations, business communities and diplomatic missions accredited in Belarus,” he explained.

Belarus welcomes the interested and business-like dialogue with European counterparts. The speaker recalled that the talks with MPs from Germany, the Netherlands and Sweden were very constructive. Meetings with Chinese MPs are regular and productive, too. By the way, a Chinese delegation is currently on a visit to Belarus.

All in all, Vladimir Andreichenko described the international agenda of the spring session as rather busy. He did not specify all the events to be held. However he emphasized that each of these events should be viewed as an attempt to cement progress in promoting national interests. “The central part of the agenda is cooperation in trade and economy. In many ways, these matters are centered around Belarus’ accession to the WTO, which promises great benefits, but also poses some obvious risks. The MPs joined the efforts to address this issue. It should become the benchmark of the comprehensive analysis to be undertaken at a seminar to be held together with the WTO Secretariat,” the speaker noted.
