“Cooperation between our two countries is based on the principles of respect for freedom, human rights, sovereignty. I would like to mention that we are talking about the peoples (of Latin America – note by BelTA) who for a long time were on the margins of history. She expressed her profound satisfaction with the fact that Belarus has been granted an observer status at Parlatino. “As President of Parlatino I would like to assure you that we are very interested in strengthening interregional ties, cooperation among the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean with the countries of your region,” she noted.

For his part, Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Vladimir Andreichenko stressed that the agreements signed today will open a new page in the relations between Belarus and Ecuador. This is the first visit of a parliamentary delegation from Ecuador to Belarus. “This is the result, first and foremost, of a long and consistent work, dialogue between the parliaments of our countries,” added the Speaker.

Vladimir Andreichenko emphasized that today's negotiations with the Ecuadorian delegation showed that there are many points of contact. “We are talking about trade and economic relations, cooperation in the humanitarian area,” Vladimir Andreichenko said. In addition, the representative of the Belarusian Parliament thanked Gabriela Alejandra Rivadeneira Burbano for assisting with granting Belarus as observer status at Parlatino.

For his part, Chairman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Mikhail Myasnikovich explained that the negotiations with the Ecuadorian delegation discussed the details of the implementation of previously signed agreements. “We discussed mutual investment protection, supporting investment activities and also the issues related to the avoidance of double taxation, regulation of trade and economic agreements,” Mikhail Myasnikovich noted. Today’s talks also considered the cooperation in the oil industry, and the training of Ecuadorian specialists in Belarus.

“Our relations have good prospects. We have agreed to help forward the projects we have today. It pertains, first of all, to the projects in oil exploration, subsurface use and the issues related to cooperation in the agro-industrial sector,” said Mikhail Myasnikovich.
