MINSK, 29 June (BelTA) - The Days of Minsk will be held in Belgrade (Serbia) in 2017. The agreement was signed by Minsk Mayor Andrei Shorets and Mayor of Belgrade Sinisa Mali, BelTA has learned.

The signing ceremony took place in the presence of members of the Belarusian and Serbian delegations participating in the Days of Belgrade which are running in Minsk from 28 to 30 June.

Before the ceremony, Andrei Shorets and Sinisa Mali held talks. The Minsk Mayor noted that the Days of Belgrade include the business part and many other activities. This says that there are many points of contact and areas for cooperation. For his part, Sinisa Mali underlined that the Serbian side is open to contacts, ready to consider any proposal of the Belarusian colleagues and to learn from the experience of the Belarusian capital.

During the negotiations the parties devoted special attention to the ways of deepening the mutually beneficial trade and economic cooperation and also the ties in culture and sport.

Summing up the event, Andrei Shorets noted that within a short period of time Minsk and Belgrade have significantly advanced on various fronts. He cited that more than 25 companies from Serbia and about 70 from Belarus will participate in the business forum scheduled for 29 June.

“I am confident that the trade between our countries and cities will increase. We are discussing the ways to expand cooperation in utilities services and transport. We are also mulling over Belkommunmash’s participation in the modernization of Belgrade fleet of trolleybuses,” the Minsk Mayor said. The parties plan to expand cooperation in tourism. The corresponding agencies of the two capitals have been instructed on the matter. “I hope that agreements that are to be reached during the Belgrade Days in Minsk will be promptly implemented so as we could acknowledge the positive trends in our bilateral relations during the Minsk Days in Belgrade next year,” stressed Andrei Shorets.

Sinisa Mali thanked the Minsk Mayor for the meeting. Minsk and Belgrade have been steadily developing their cooperation. In his words, the number of tourists in the Serbian capital soared by 60% in comparison with the previous year. Belgrade plans to increase their number including with the help of Belarusian travelers. Sinisa Mali invited Belarusian partners to take part in the country’s biggest tourism expo in February. He confirmed the city’s interest in modernizing its fleet of trolleybuses with the help of Belarusian specialists. The Serbian guest also showed interest in Minsk building illumination practices.
