MINSK, 14 October (BelTA) - Conditions of Belarus' participation in the Northern Dimension Partnership on Transport and Logistics (NDPTL) have been updated. An amendment to the agreement on the NDPTL Secretariat was signed in Helsinki, BelTA learned from the Transport and Communications Ministry of Belarus.
“The document updates financial conditions of Belarus' participation in the activities of the association aimed at the development of multilateral transport communication in Northern Europe and the Baltic Sea region,” the press service said.
The signing of the financial amendment guarantees Belarus' full participation in the activities of the NDPTL, the implementation of joint projects aimed at developing transport links in the region, and the implementation of innovative technologies.
The main goal of the partnership is to improve basic transport and logistics connections in the Northern Dimension area in accordance with environmental needs.
The main priorities of NDPTL are reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, zero road deaths and serious injuries, digitalization, robotization and automation of transport industry, new trade routes, including the Northern Sea Route and land connection with Asia, the use of best practices in transport education.
“Participation in the NDPTL both promotes a constructive dialogue on the development of infrastructure projects in our country and creates additional prerequisites for the development of logistics chains of interaction between transport operators of Belarus and the EU. This, in turn, has a positive impact on the use of the geographical advantages of Belarus as the most important link in the rapid and reliable delivery of goods between the EU and the EAEU,” the ministry said.
The current members of the NDPTL are Belarus, Norway, Russia, Finland, Poland, Sweden , Germany, Denmark, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania.
