Concepts of six new Belarus-Russia union programs drafted

MINSK, 29 April (BelTA) – Concepts of six new programs of the Union State of Belarus and Russia have been drafted and submitted for consideration of the Standing Committee of the Union State of Belarus and Russia, BelTA learned from Chairman of the State Science and Technology Committee Aleksandr Shumilin on 29 April.

The draft programs focus on security, geological exploration and nature management, additive technologies, stem cells, superconducting resonators, and technologies to deal with microbial resistance in order to improve personified medical aid.

As part of these programs technical solutions will be worked out to prevent natural and man-caused catastrophes, modern geological exploration technologies, technologies for smart and environmentally friendly usage of Russian and Belarusian mineral resources. A new generation of calibration equipment will be created. Belarusian and Russian scientists also intend to develop technologies, materials and equipment for manufacturing using additive technologies (3D printing). Technologies will be worked out to detect and overcome the resistance of microbes to medications. New biomedical cell products will be created. Full-scale production of superconducting resonators will be launched.

Over 50 Union State programs have been implemented so far. Eight R&D programs are in progress now. They focus on DNA identification, automobile electronics, hydrometeorological safety of the Union State, forage, and spinal systems for healthcare applications among other things.

Apart from that, in 2018 the State Science and Technology Committee of Belarus and the Science and Higher Education Ministry of Russia worked out a regulation on Union State prizes in the area of science and technology. A contest to award the prize was declared in 2019. So far 16 applications from Belarus and four applications from Russia have been submitted.
