MOSCOW, 4 June (BelTA) – China is in favor of raising Belarus’ status in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization to observer. Chinese Minister of Foreign Affairs Wang Yi made the relevant statement during the high-level conference held on 4 June to discuss security and stability in the region of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, BelTA has learned.

“A lot of countries have already confirmed their interest in joining the SCO. It testifies to the fact that our organization becomes more and more strongly sought for,” noted the Chinese Minister of Foreign Affairs. “Yesterday we discussed the accession of India and Pakistan to the SCO,” added Wang Yi.
