Cheaper Belarusian visas under consideration

MINSK, 8 April (BelTA) – The possibility of reducing prices for Belarusian visas will be discussed during the development of the government program on tourism development in Belarus in 2016-2020, BelTA learned from Belarusian Deputy Sports and Tourism Minister Mikhail Portnoi on 8 April.

The official pointed out that the concept of the program will be worked out first. The document will lay down major guidelines for the development of the tourism industry. Once the concept is approved, all the parties concerned will be involved in detailed planning of the program. “Work on the program is in progress. Next week we are starting working on it with the parliament. The matter of reducing visa prices will be raised, too,” said the Deputy Sports and Tourism Minister.

“I cannot say categorically that the prices will be slashed. But we will consider the possibility. The idea is that the decision should benefit both the state and people,” concluded Mikhail Portnoi.

The government program on tourism development in Belarus in 2016-2020 is supposed to be drafted by 1 June 2015.
