Belarusian-Turkish interparliamentary cooperation discussed in Ankara

MINSK, 9 July (BelTA) – Chairman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly Mikhail Myasnikovich met with Acting Speaker of the Parliament of Turkey Ismail Kahraman to discuss the development of interparliamentary cooperation, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Embassy in Turkey.

The parties discussed setting up a group of friendship with Belarus in the Turkish parliament after the recent elections, the organization of the visit of the new speaker of Parliament who is to be elected by 13 July to Minsk this year. The current head of government Binali Yıldırım has been nominated for this post and the post of the prime minister will be abolished, pursuant to the amendments to the Constitution.

Mikhail Myasnikovich asked the Turkish side to facilitate early consideration of the draft agreement on the recognition of diplomas of higher education, and thanked Ismail Kahraman for his personal contribution to the strengthening of the Belarusian-Turkish cooperation.

“The meeting was held in a very warm atmosphere,” the embassy said.

For his part, Ismail Kahraman promised to convey all the requests and suggestions made during the meeting to his successor.

BelTA reported that the inauguration ceremony of President of the Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan will be held in Ankara on 9 July. Chairman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly Mikhail Myasnikovich will attend it as the head the Belarusian delegation. Mikhail Myasnikovich is scheduled to meet with members of the Turkish government and heads of foreign delegations.

Recep Tayyip Erdogan will swear the oath at 6:00pm local time on 9 July and will address the foreign dignitaries, representatives of the diplomatic missions, MPs, well-known personalities from business, culture and sports of Turkey, and representatives of the press. The president will announce the names of the cabinet members.
