MINSK, 17 August (BelTA) - Belarusian MPs plan to consider the ratification of the two international documents with Georgia and Sudan at the autumn session. The documents were reviewed at a meeting of the Permanent Commission for International Affairs of the House of Representatives on 17 August, BelTA learned from chairman of the commission Valery Voronetsky.

The first bill involves the ratification of the intergovernmental agreement between Belarus and Georgia on promotion and mutual protection of investments. According to Valery Voronetsky, the agreement was signed in March 2017 and is aimed at creating a legal framework for bilateral relations in investment cooperation. The parties undertake to create favorable conditions for investors, provide fair and equitable treatment to mutual investments, protection and security.

The second bill involves the ratification of the treaty on friendly relations and cooperation between Belarus and Sudan. The treaty was signed in January 2017 and is aimed at further strengthening the friendly relations between the two states. It says that Belarus and Sudan will build relations based on mutual respect, independence, sovereignty. It envisages equal and mutually beneficial cooperation in the political, economic, scientific, technical, social, humanitarian and other areas. According to Valery Voronetsky, the ratification will facilitate the development of ties between parliaments and other bodies, the expansion of direct contacts, including at the regional level.

“During the meeting the Permanent Commission for International Affairs decided to propose to the House of Representatives to include the documents on the agenda of the third session and to recommend ratifying them,” the MPs said.
