Belarusian MPs urge political and diplomatic resolution to Middle East conflict

Belarusian MPs urge political and diplomatic resolution to Middle East conflict

MINSK, 5 March (BelTA) – Belarusian parliamentarians urge to utilize political and diplomatic means to resolve the Middle East conflict, Gennady Lepeshko, Chairman of the Standing Commission on National Security of the House of Representatives, told journalists during a visit to the Iranian Embassy in Minsk, BelTA reports.

“The Republic of Belarus has always adhered to the principles of peaceful resolution of all contentious issues. And now we call for this conflict to be ended and for all disagreements to be resolved solely through political and diplomatic means. We oppose any escalation of the conflict in the Middle East. We support ending this conflict and preventing further escalation in this region,” said Gennady Lepeshko.

On 5 March, Chairman of the Standing Commission on National Security of the House of Representatives Gennady Lepeshko and Chairman of the Standing Commission on International Affairs and National Security of the Council of the Republic Sergei Aleinik met with Iranian Ambassador Alireza Sanei and signed a book of condolences.

“We express our sincere condolences to the entire Iranian nation over the loss of innocent lives, the death of the Ayatollah, and the death of children in particular. We are deeply shocked by the actions of Israel, supported by the United States of America, against a country with which we maintain friendly relations,” said Gennady Lepeshko.

The condolence book, which is open at the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Belarus, continues to receive entries to honor the memory of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, and the victims of the attacks on Iranian territory, as well as to express sympathy and solidarity with the families and loved ones of the victims and those affected by these attacks. The condolence book is open from 4 to 6 March (from 10:00 to 13:00 and from 15:00 to 17:00) at the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Minsk at the address: 11 Starovilensky Trakt.
