Belarusian MPs attending 134th IPU Assembly in Zambia

MINSK, 22 March (BelTA) - Belarusian MPs are attending the 134th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) which is running in Lusaka (Zambia) on 19-23 March, BelTA learned from the press service of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus.

The delegation includes Svetlana Gerasimovich, the chairperson of the permanent commission for regional policy and local self-government at the Council of the Republic, and Vitaly Busko, the chairman of the permanent commission for international affairs at the House of Representatives.

The MPs are taking part in the general debate “Rejuvenation of Democracy, Giving Voices to Youth,” the steering committee, meetings of women-parliamentarians, meetings of the geopolitical Eurasia Group to discuss a common position on the issues on the agenda of the Assembly. The delegates are also taking part in the meetings of the Standing Committee on Peace and International Security, Standing Committee on Sustainable Development, Finance And Trade, the Standing Committee on Democracy and Human Rights and the Permanent Committee on UN Affairs.

The Belarusian MPs have already held several meetings, including with the President and the Secretary General of the IPU, the delegations of Vietnam, Serbia, Poland, Lithuania, New Zealand and others.
