MINSK, 15 December (BelTA) – Belarus has strongly condemned the terrorist attack in Sydney that resulted in civilian deaths and injuries, the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs told BelTA.
In a statement, the ministry said: “Our country consistently opposes terrorism in all its forms and manifestations and urges the international community to join efforts to counter terrorist threats.”
It added: “We express our sincere condolences to the families and friends of the victims and wish a speedy recovery to the injured.”
According to international media reports, on 14 December, several unidentified individuals opened fire on people at Sydney’s Bondi Beach. The attack killed 15 people and injured several dozen. Israel’s state broadcaster Kan reported that the shooting occurred during a Hanukkah candle-lighting ceremony attended by many members of the local Jewish community.
