Belarusian foreign minister to visit Poland on 10 October

MINSK, 7 October (BelTA) – Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei is expected to visit Poland on 10 October upon an invitation of his Polish counterpart Witold Waszczykowski, the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs told BelTA.

The visit is timed to the 25th anniversary of the signing of the declaration on good-neighborly relations, mutual recognition and cooperation between Belarus and Poland.

While in Poland Vladimir Makei is expected to meet with Polish Minister of Foreign Affairs Witold Waszczykowski, other representatives of Poland’s leadership to discuss topical matters concerning bilateral cooperation.

Belarusian-Polish dialogue has been noticeably invigorated this year. In particular, Belarus welcomed a number of delegations representing the ministries of foreign affairs, agriculture, environmental protection, transport, and maritime economy of Poland. The dialogue between the parliaments was resumed. Intergovernmental commissions and branch-wise working groups work intensively.

In January-August 2016 Belarus-Poland trade totaled nearly $1.4 billion, 110.6% as against the same period of last year. Belarus’ export to Poland reached $584.4 million (114%), import from Poland amounted to $796.9 million (108.2%).
