MINSK, 17 April (BelTA) – Ways to improve the coordination of interaction between the Belarusian Defense Ministry and NATO structural subdivisions as part of the Partnership for Peace program have been sketched out, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Defense Ministry website.

A NATO HQ delegation visited Belarus on 14-17 April as part of Belarus’ participation in NATO’s Partnership for Peace program. An annual meeting took place to discuss Belarus’ participation in planning and evaluating the program. The Belarusian side was represented by representatives of the Defense Ministry, the State Secretariat of the Security Council, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Emergencies Ministry. The NATO delegation included representatives of various NATO structural subdivisions as well as defense attachйs of the embassies of Bulgaria, the UK, Germany, Poland, the USA, and Czechia in Belarus.

The sides discussed a draft evaluation document developed by the NATO HQ on the basis of the information Belarus submits within the framework of the Partnership for Peace program. A number of practical matters concerning the achievement of the partnership goals were clarified. Ways to improve the coordination of interaction between the Belarusian Defense Ministry and NATO divisions as part of the Partnership for Peace program were sketched out.

Results of the meeting were summed up when Chief of the International Military Cooperation Department of the Belarusian Defense Ministry, Aide for International Military Cooperation to the Defense Minister Oleg Voinov met with the head of the NATO delegation Paul Savereux. The sides also discussed the state and prospective avenues of advancing cooperation in military sphere, key matters of regional security.
