MINSK, 18 November (BelTA) – Belarusian citizenship has been granted to 224 foreign citizens and stateless persons, including 16 minors. Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko signed the relevant decree on 18 November, BelTA has learned.
People from 17 states have become Belarus’ new citizens. The number includes Armenia, Egypt, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Moldova, Russia, Türkiye, and Uzbekistan. Most of them came from Ukraine.
The persons that have been granted Belarusian citizenship are employed in various branches of economy. They work in education, services sector, agribusiness, civil engineering. A number of them have other occupations. Apart from that, this lot of Belarus’ new citizens includes a doctor of sciences and a candidate of sciences, who are professors in a leading Belarusian higher education institution.
At the same time applications for Belarusian citizenship from a number of individuals, who have broken Belarus’ laws, have been declined.
