BREST, 11 May (BelTA) - Baranovichi plans to conclude a twinning agreement with Russia's Magadan, First Deputy Chairperson of the Baranovichi City Hall Natalia Fedorova told BelTA.
The partnership agreement will be signed during the city day celebrations in Baranovichi on 19-20 May. It is expected that the document will signed by Baranovichi Mayor Yuri Gromakovsky and his Magadan counterpart Yuri Grishan. The parties intend to develop cooperation in economy, trade, education, culture, tourism and other areas.
“We have a common sister-city, namely Latvian Jelgava. Magadan suggested we also signed a similar agreement. Such a cooperation is of interest to Baranovichi. We have invited the Russian delegation to attend our city day events to discuss the areas of cooperation. The Magadan delegation will include representatives of a large trading company. We hope to promote our products, including those made by the Baranovichi Cotton Association, furniture companies. Perhaps, we will find more points of contacts during the talks,” Natalia Fedorova noted.
This year Baranovichi will mark the 147th anniversary of founding. The city day celebrations will be attended by delegations from the sister-cities: Polish Gdynia, Ukrainian Novovolynsk, Latvian Jelgava, Lithuanian Siauliai.
All in all, Baranovichi has concluded partnership agreements with 23 cities, including those in Finland, Austria, China, Italy, Bulgaria, Sweden, Turkey, Vietnam, Serbia.
