Belarusian and Russian parliaments recommended boosting interaction

MINSK, 8 June (BelTA) - The Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus and the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation need to build up the Belarusian-Russian parliamentary interaction in order to deepen cooperation between Belarus and Russia, reads the outcome document of the 3rd Forum of Regions of Russia and Belarus, BelTA has learned.

“To continue work aimed at enhancing interaction between the administrative-territorial units of the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation,” the forum participants recommended the upper houses of parliaments of the two countries. This applies to specific bilateral projects, including within the framework of the inter-parliamentary commission on interregional cooperation of the Council of the Republic and the Federation Council.

The forum participants also believe that public authorities of all levels in two countries need to intensify efforts to develop mutually beneficial and effective forms of interregional cooperation on the basis of the Union States in various areas, including in the socio-economic area.

The document says that the Supreme State Council of the Union State, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Belarus-Russia Union State and the Union State Council of Ministers should attach priority attention to the financing of integration projects, to the coherent social policy to ensure equal rights of citizens of Belarus and Russia, etc.

The Union State, according to the forum participants, needs to continue to develop a single scientific and migration space, a common educational, cultural and informational space, youth policy and the labor market.

It is also necessary to bolster ties in science and innovation, agriculture and industry, healthcare and other areas.

Another priority is further development of the pension systems of Belarus and Russia in view of the high degree of economic integration, common labor market and similar socio-demographic conditions.
