MINSK, 2 March (BelTA) – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Austria Alena Kupchyna presented her credentials to Austria President Alexander Van der Bellen on 2 March, representatives of the Belarusian diplomatic mission in Vienna told BelTA.
After the ceremony the Ambassador and the President exchanged opinions about the state and prospects of Belarusian-Austrian cooperation, including in view of the 25th anniversary since diplomatic relations were established between the two countries. A number of topical items on the international agenda and the regional agenda were discussed.
Alexander Van der Bellen was pleased with positive dynamics of advancement of Belarusian-Austrian cooperation and Belarusian-European relations and said he hopes they will get stronger. Alexander Van der Bellen thanked the Belarusian side for efforts to immortalize memory of victims of the death camp Maly Trostenets, which number included some 10,000 Austrian citizens.
In turn, the Ambassador underscored Belarus’ readiness to expand and deepen cooperation with Austria across the board as well as the readiness to step up the partnership dialogue with the European Union. Alena Kupchyna drew attention to Belarus’ contribution to ensuring regional security and stability.
