Belarus, WB to discuss new country partnership framework

MINSK, 12 October (BelTA) - Belarus and the World Bank will discuss the preparation of a new country partnership framework, BelTA learned from the website of the Belarusian Economy Ministry.

Economy Minister Vladimir Zinovsky went on a working visit to Washington (United States) to attend the annual meeting of the Boards of Governors of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund. Belarus traditionally takes part in this high-level event using it as a platform to coordinate the positions with the senior management of the international financial organizations on topical issues of bilateral cooperation.

During the working visit, Vladimir Zinovsky is scheduled to meet with key partners, including World Bank Vice President for Europe and Central Asia Cyril Muller, Regional Director of the International Finance Corporation Tomasz Telma, Vice President of the European Investment Bank Alexander Stubb. The meetings will mainly focus on the implementation of the current joint investment projects and the preparation of the new country partnership framework.

During the meeting with the World Bank Vice President for Europe and Central Asia the parties are expected to sign agreements on the project “Improving access to finance for micro, small and medium enterprises in the Republic of Belarus”. The World Bank intends to open a credit line for the Development Bank of Belarus for on-lending to small and medium-sized enterprises with a view to expanding the current program of the Development Bank
