Belarus, Uzbekistan to intensify cooperation in youth policy

MINSK, 16 July (BelTA) – The BRSM Youth Union and the Union of Youth of Uzbekistan are set to sign a cooperation agreement, BelTA learned from coordinator of international youth cooperation at the BRSM Central Committee Alesya Sazankova.

A protocol of intent was signed by First Secretary of the BRSM Central Committee Dmitry Voronyuk and Chairman of the Central Council of the Union of Youth of Uzbekistan Kakhramon Kuranbayev on the sidelines of the third Youth Camp of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. That was the first step to promote cooperation between the youth organizations of the two countries. “The parties discussed cooperative efforts in implementing state youth policies, ways to intensify cooperation within the framework of the CIS and the SCO. Another step towards closer cooperation will be the cooperation agreement between the BRSM Youth Union and the Union of Youth of Uzbekistan to be signed this autumn,” Alesya Sazankova noted.

A BRSM delegation was invited by the All-China Youth Federation to take part in the SCO Youth Camp. The SCO Youth Camp is taking place in the Chinese city of Qingdao till 22 July. Its theme is “New SCO and New Partnership”. A session of the SCO Youth Council has already been held to adopt an action plan for 2018-2019. “The next official session will take place in Kyrgyzstan. Apart from that, a membership application of the Union of Youth of Uzbekistan was considered and the organization was admitted to the SCO Youth Council,” Alesya Sazankova said.

The SCO Youth Camp was organized by the All-China Youth Federation. The total number of participants is 200 people.

A cooperation agreement between the BRSM Youth Union and the All-China Youth Federation was signed in 2011. BRSM has been a partner of the SCO Youth Council since 2014. This has offered more opportunities to implement joint youth projects and programs of the SCO member states and allowed putting forward various proposals on improving the work of the SCO Youth Camp.
