Belarus-USA Human Rights Dialogue continues in Washington

MINSK, 1 November (BelTA) – Another round of the Belarus-United States Human Rights Dialogue took place in Washington, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The event was organized as part of the visit of Belarus’ Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Oleg Kravchenko to Washington on 29 October – 1 November. The central element of the program was the next round of the Belarus-United States Human Rights Dialogue. Taking part in the event was Robert A. Destro, Assistant Secretary at the Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights and Labor, and also representatives of the U.S. Department of State and government agencies.
 
During his visit, Oleg Kravchenko met with Acting Assistant Secretary of State in the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs Philip Reeker and Chairman of the Subcommittee on Europe and Eurasia of the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Foreign Affairs Bill Keating. The parties discussed the development of Belarus-United States cooperation and the regional situation.

Opportunities of bilateral cooperation were discussed at a meeting between the Belarusian deputy minister of foreign affairs and Paul Packer, Chairman of the United States Commission for the Preservation of America's Heritage Abroad.

The ways to boost cooperation in trade and investment were talked over at the meeting with President of the American-Central European Business Association Eric Stewart.

The deputy minister also met with representatives of the analytical community. On 1 November, Oleg Kravchenko is set to meet with Deputy Assistant Secretary at the U.S. Department of State George Kent.
