Belarus urges to restore practical cooperation between CSTO, OSCE

MINSK, 19 May (BelTA) – Belarus supports restoring practical cooperation between the CSTO and the OSCE, as such interaction would help reduce tensions in Eurasia, Belarusian Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister Igor Sekreta said during his participation (via videoconference) in the international round table discussion “The Collective Security Treaty Organization: Together for Strengthening International Peace and Stability”, BelTA has learned.

The round table discussion was organized by the Russian CSTO chairmanship at the OSCE platform in Vienna. It was attended by representatives of the diplomatic corps, international organizations, including the UN, OSCE, CSTO, CIS, and SCO, as well as members of the expert community.

In his remarks, Igor Sekreta emphasized the importance of the CSTO as one of the military-political pillars of Eurasian and global security in a multipolar world. The Belarusian diplomat drew attention to the upcoming 4th Minsk International Conference on Eurasian Security, which has become a platform for regular discussions on pressing issues of regional and global security. He also highlighted Belarus’ initiative to develop the Eurasian Charter of Diversity and Multipolarity in the 21st Century, which could outline principles and parameters for security architecture across the Eurasian space.

Igor Sekreta expressed the view that resuming practical CSTO-OSCE cooperation would make a significant contribution to overcoming confrontation and finding joint solutions for European and Asian states aimed at reducing tensions, restoring trust, and building equal and indivisible security on the continent.
