MINSK, 9 June (BelTA) - Preparations for the third Forum of Regions of Belarus and Ukraine in Grodno were discussed during a video conference of the working group on interregional and cross-border cooperation, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Embassy in Ukraine.
The Belarusian delegation to the working group was headed by First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Andrei Yeudachenka, the Ukrainian one – by First Deputy Minister for Community and Territories Development Vasily Lozinsky.
The participants of the meeting examined the business program of the forum. The Chambers of Commerce and Industry of the two countries informed about the progress in the preparation of the ninth meeting of the Advisory Council of Business Cooperation. “The parties noted that Belarusian and Ukrainian regions are looking forward to the signing of interregional agreements during the forum,” the diplomatic mission said.
The parties welcomed the active dialogue between Belarus and Ukraine at the highest, high and regional levels and reaffirmed their intention to develop and deepen bilateral trade, economic and humanitarian ties, including between the regions. The possibility of setting up cross-border cooperation associations was discussed.
Belarus’ Emergencies Ministry has made a proposal to intensify bilateral cooperation in the area of emergency prevention and response, to develop an emergency monitoring system, especially during fire-dangerous period and during spring floods.
