Belarus, Turkey sign roadmap of cooperation in science for 2019-2021

MINSK, 17 April (BelTA) - The National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (NASB) and the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK) have signed a roadmap of cooperation for 2019-2021, BelTA learned from the NASB press service.

The signing ceremony took place in Ankara on 16 April. The document was signed by Chairman of the NASB Presidium Vladimir Gusakov and Turkey’s Minister of Industry and Technology Mustafa Varank

The NASB press service noted that Belarusian and Turkish scientists will work in the areas of mutual interest: “These include space monitoring of the Earth's surface, unmanned aerial vehicles, batteries for electric cars and other vehicles, composite organic-mineral materials, minerals processing, use of information technology for forecasting hazardous natural phenomena.”

The roadmap, in particular, envisages a joint contest of science and technology projects in the areas defined during the seminars in Gebze (2018) and Minsk (2019).The document also provides for events to develop and improve the organization and enhance the efficiency of joint activities in science, joint projects between the Belarusian Foundation of Fundamental Research and TUBITAK, cooperation in training scientific personnel.

The cooperation in science is based on the agreement between the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey signed in 2002 and the agreement on scientific cooperation between the NASB and the Turkish Academy of Sciences signed in 2009. According to Belarusian and Turkish scientists, the roadmap will help intensify mutually beneficial activities.

A memorandum of understanding between the NASB and the Ministry of Industry and Technology of Turkey was also signed in Ankara to step up sci-tech cooperation in Antarctica.
