MINSK, 2 May (BelTA) – The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) will assist the Belarusian Labor and Social Security Ministry with studying the international practices in the placement of children with disabilities (CWD) at small-capacity residential institutions. The plans were discussed during the meeting of Belarusian Labor and Social Security Minister Irina Kostevich with UNICEF Representative in Belarus Rashed Mustafa Sarwar on 2 May, BelTA learned from the ministry.
The parties discussed the prospects for cooperation between the Labor and Social Security Ministry and the UNICEF Office in the implementation of the UNICEF country program for the Republic of Belarus for 2016-2020, and also matters related to deinstitutionalization and alternative forms of family placement of children with disabilities.
Irina Kostevich and Rashed Mustafa Sarwar agreed that UNICEF will provide assistance to the Labor and Social Security Ministry with studying the international practices in the placement of children with disabilities at small-capacity residential institutions.
