Belarus to host parliament speakers of five countries soon

MINSK, 26 June (BelTA) - The heads of parliaments of five countries will visit Belarus in the near future, Chairman of the House of Representatives Vladimir Andreichenko said at the conclusion of the second session of the House of Representatives of the sixth convocation, BelTA has learned.

“Our country will host the heads of parliaments of Georgia, India, Moldova, Pakistan and Sudan in the near future. We are planning to participate in the fourth Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia, and also to visit Armenia, Poland and Romania,” the Speaker said.

Vladimir Andreichenko said that during the House of Representatives of the sixth convocation intensified bilateral contacts with partners from Israel, China, Latvia, Pakistan, Poland, Thailand, Estonia. The National Assembly established groups for cooperation with the parliaments of Egypt and Sudan.

The milestone event was the official visit of a Chinese parliamentary delegation to Belarus. The two sides signed a joint statement outlining further steps to develop ties and enhance interaction in the international parliamentary organizations.

A dialogue with Pakistan was continued. The bilateral legal framework was replenished with two new documents. The Speaker drew attention to the fact that during a recent visit to that country, the Belarusian delegation held productive talks and meetings. Belarus took part in an agricultural forum there, showcased its meat and dairy products and discussed the possibility of building several enterprises for processing agricultural products using domestic technology in Pakistan.

“The Belarusian Parliament continued active work with Latin America. When in Ecuador, we talked with the President and Chairman of the Parliament of that country about the prospects for promoting cooperation in agriculture. After some time we welcomed an Ecuadorian MPs who came specifically to explore the opportunities of our agricultural industry,” Vladimir Andreichenko stated.
