Belarus to continue developing strategic partnership with China

MINSK, 31 March (BelTA) – Belarus intends to continue developing the comprehensive strategic partnership with China. It was noted during the meeting of Head of the Belarus President Administration Alexander Kosinets with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to Belarus Cui Qiming, representatives of the Belarus President Administration told BelTA.

Alexander Kosinets also stressed that the Belarusian side sets a high value on the forthcoming visit of China President Xi Jinping to Belarus.

During the meeting of Alexander Kosinets with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to Belarus Cui QimingThe Head of the Belarus President Administration said that developing relations with China is a priority direction of the foreign policy of Belarus. The joint declaration signed by the leaders of the countries on 16 July 2013 states that the relations have reached a new level — comprehensive strategic partnership.

According to the Belarusian side, this format should be filled with as much content as possible. China is one of the most important trade and economic partners of Belarus.

Alexander Kosinets remarked that the most important tasks concerning Belarusian-Chinese cooperation include the maintenance of political dialogue at the high and top levels and the invigoration of credit and investment cooperation. He pointed out the importance of implementing the project to create the China-Belarus Industrial Park and the need to encourage Chinese investors to take a more active part in the project. Apart from that, the Head of the Belarus President Administration mentioned the importance of developing joint ventures to make Belarusian machines in regions of China and projects in the information and communication spheres.

In turn, Cui Qiming said that the Chinese side was also busy preparing for the visit of China President Xi Jinping to Belarus. During the visit a number of mutually beneficial bilateral agreements will be signed.

The diplomat said it was important that Belarus and China cooperate in the United Nations Organization and other international organizations on a mutually beneficial basis, supporting each other on fundamental matters.

The Ambassador of China talked about the initiative of China President Xi Jinping to create the economic belt of the Silk Way. Belarus may take part in the project.

Ways to increase supplies of Belarusian products to China were also discussed during the meeting. Apart from that, Belarus’ participation in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization was discussed.
