Belarus-Switzerland cooperation prospects discussed in Minsk

MINSK, 18 December (BelTA) – A regular round of political consultations between the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs of Switzerland took place in Minsk on 18 December, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Belarusian delegation was led by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Oleg Kravchenko. The Swiss delegation was headed by Deputy State Secretary of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs Krystyna Marty Lang.

The diplomats discussed prospects of bilateral cooperation in political, trade, economic, humanitarian and other areas, interaction in international organizations, human rights and regional security. The head of the Swiss delegation also met with Belarus’ Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei.

On the same day Oleg Kravchenko and Krystyna Marty Lang participated in a event organized jointly with the European Institute of Peace on mediation and preventive diplomacy. The deputy minister stressed the growing importance of preventive measures in conflict prevention as well cooperation between partners Oleg Kravchenko briefed the participants on Belarus’ approaches to conflict resolution and emphasized the country’s role in strengthening regional security.

The event was also attended by representatives of the European Institute of Peace, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, a number of government bodies of Belarus and the Department of International Relations of the Belarusian State University.
