Belarus, Sudan to boost trade through interparliamentary interactionMINSK, 14 November (BelTA) – Speaker of the House of Representatives of Belarus’ National Assembly Vladimir Andreichenko and Speaker of Sudan’s National Assembly Ibrahim Omer agreed to stimulate Belarus-Sudan trade through interparliamentary cooperation, BelTA learned from the press service of the House of Representatives.

The talks took place during the official visit of Belarusian MPs to Sudan. The sides exchanged views on the topical matters of the bilateral agenda, in particular, on ways to develop the interparliamentary dialogue. Vladimir Andreichenko and Ibrahim Omer spoke out in favor of regular bilateral meetings.

“Belarus and Sudan agreed to stimulate trade and economic cooperation by expanding interparliamentary interaction. Vladimir Andreichenko mentioned several specific business projects to explain Belarus’ vision of cooperation,” the press service said.

The MPs paid great attention to further development of the bilateral legal framework. Both sides put focus on achieving mutually beneficial results in humanitarian cooperation and medical tourism. Vladimir Andreichenko emphasized that Belarus views Sudan as an important partner in Africa.

Belarus, Sudan to boost trade through interparliamentary interactionFollowing the meeting, the two speakers pointed out that the current visit of the Belarusian MPs is crucial for the bilateral relations as a whole.

Vladimir Andreichenko also met with top members of the House of States, the upper house of Sudan’s parliament. The participants of the talks confirmed the interest in strengthening mutually beneficial cooperation in trade and economy, including such promising fields as industry, agriculture, the development of Sudan’s natural resources, training of specialists, and other areas.

The Belarusian parliamentary delegation is in Sudan on an official visit through 16 November. It comprises representatives of large Belarusian companies.

Pavel Semenyuk, Director General of the Holding Management Company Belresursy, is scheduled to meet with top executives of the Darfood company, one of Sudan’s largest manufacturers of peanuts, the State Property Committee told BelTA. They are expected to sign a €900,000 deal to supply Sudanese peanuts to Belarus.
