Belarus, Slovenia eager to expand cooperation in Central European Initiative

MINSK, 1 February (BelTA) – Belarus and Slovenia intend to expand cooperation in the Central European Initiative. The relevant matters were discussed when Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Hungary with concurrent accreditation to Slovenia Alexander Khainovsky met with representatives of the Slovenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs told BelTA.

The Ambassador met with Slovenian Minister of Foreign Affairs Karl Erjavec, State Secretary Darja Bavdaz Kuret, and Director General for Economic and Public Diplomacy Robert Kokalj. The sides discussed the organization of joint events in 2017, including those timed to the 25th anniversary of Belarus-Slovenia diplomatic relations. The organization of the next session of the Belarusian-Slovenian intergovernmental commission on trade, economic, scientific, and technical cooperation was discussed. The organization of a Belarusian-Slovenian business forum was mentioned. The advancement of Belarus’ dialogue with the European Union was high on the agenda.

Apart from that, Alexander Khainovsky met with Honorary Consul of Belarus in Slovenia, Riko Company CEO Janez Skrabec. The observance of rights and interests of Belarusian corporations and individuals in Slovenia was discussed as well as the development of Belarusian-Slovenian trade, economic, and investment cooperation. The implementation of projects in power engineering and civil engineering in Belarus by Riko Company was mentioned.
