Belarus, Slovenia approve plan of joint action for 2016

PORTOROZ, 20 November (BelTA) - Belarus and Slovenia harmonized the plan of joint action for 2016. The prospects for the development of the Belarusian-Slovenian cooperation were discussed during the talks between Belarus’ Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Alena Kupchyna and Slovenia Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs Karl Erjavec and State Secretary of the Slovenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Darja Kuret, BelTA has learned.

The meeting took place during the visit of Belarus’ Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Alena Kupchyna to Slovenia.

During the talks the parties discussed the EU-Belarus dialogue, the interaction within the framework of the Eastern Partnership, the issues regarding the establishment of cooperation between the European Union and the Eurasian Economic Union, the situation in Central and Eastern Europe.

Special attention was paid to the revitalization of the Belarusian-Slovenian relations in political, economic, cultural and humanitarian areas. The parties approved a plan of joint action for 2016, agreed on the format and tentative dates for the next meeting of the bilateral intergovernmental commission on trade, economic and scientific-technical cooperation, which will be held in Ljubljana next year.

The parties also discussed the issues of mutual support in the international organizations of the UN system.

The previous day, 19 November, Alena Kupchyna attended the 17th Portoroz international business conference, one of the themes of which was dedicated to Belarus. In her speech Alena Kupchyna spoke about investment advantages of Belarus. The business conference, which is held in Portoroz annually, was attended by over 400 representatives of the Slovenian and European business communities, and students of the economics department of the University of Ljubljana.
