Belarus sends humanitarian aid to Syria

Belarus sends humanitarian aid to SyriaMINSK, 25 September (BelTA) – Belarus has sent humanitarian aid to Syria. Containers were loaded with the cargo at the Kolyadichi railway station on 25 September, BelTA has learned.

The humanitarian aid comprises food products, children’s clothing and footwear and technical equipment. "The cargo will be transported by train from Minsk to the port of Klaipeda, Lithuania. During the month the humanitarian aid is planned to be delivered to the port of Latakia, Syria where it will be distributed among population," Belarus' Deputy Emergencies Minister Alexander Khudoleyev said.

The humanitarian assistance also includes three dump trucks which will be shipped by the manufacturing plant, MAZ, in the near future. The total value of the cargo is estimated at Br533,400.

Belarus sends humanitarian aid to SyriaThe Belarusian Emergencies Ministry has delivered humanitarian assistance to various countries more than 50 times. The decision to provide humanitarian assistance to Syria is envisaged in the Council of Ministers’ resolution No.595 of 8 August. A compensation for the cost of the shipped tangible assets as well as transportation, travel and other costs covering delivery of the humanitarian aid will be paid from the funds provided in the national budget for natural disasters, accidents and catastrophes.
