MINSK, 5 October (BelTA) - Belarus aims to further increase trade, and bolster economic and investment ties with Austria, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said when receiving the letters of credence from Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Austria to Belarus Emil Brix, BelTA has learned.
The Belarusian head of state noted with satisfaction the recent positive trends in the bilateral relations with Austria.
According to Alexander Lukashenko, the meeting held recently with Austria Federal President Heinz Fischer in New York, and the strengthening of the Austrian diplomatic presence in Minsk give a new impetus to the bilateral interaction.
Diplomatic relations between Belarus and Austria were established in 1992. The Embassy of Belarus in Austria was opened in 1993. A branch of the Austrian Embassy in the Russian Federation was set up in Minsk in October 2013. In the summer of 2015 Austria decided to open a full-fledged Embassy in Belarus.
